Occasionally when I brake the brakes chatter as if the ABS is kicking in when one brakes hard. This is just with normal, not extreme braking. The Antilock light never comes on and there are no codes that indicate a problem. What could be causing this. (1995 ATX)

if it feels like your ABS is coming on, it probably means your ABS is coming on. I know mine used to come on all the time when my tires sucked, or when I hit an incline on a turn (turning into KFC, etc). You need an outside observer to figure out whether your wheels are locking up or not (just ask somebody, it's a weird enough question that they'll do it). It's also possible that an ABS sensor or two is acting wacky. The ABS light does not come on when the ABS kicks in; that's ABS's whole purpose in life, to turn on. Why would that set a code? "hey guys, just to let you know, I'm working!"

lol, just givin' you crap, but seriously, figure out whether your wheels are locking up or not.

It could be a cracked or clogged up abs ring. Take off your wheels and check to see if any of them abs rings are messed up. If they are it can give an erratic reading to the abs computer and it will fire for no reason.

Get the SHO up to 15 mph in a stone parking lot, and mash the brakes.
What suspention and brake mods do you have?
