should I have LMS do everything they can
Go look at some recent LMS threads, especially regarding: 1. why BPD needs a rebuild in the first place, and 2. Their V11 tunes. Then ask yourself that question.

Seems like I "lucked out" since the last tune i received from them was v10. What other options do we have for the HPFP that will be needed for my build other than the LMS one? LMS quoted me $9,***+ to do the e85 conversion and atp turbos, I was only thinking about having them do this only, but I didn't know who to talk to about getting an alternate quote.

There are a few vendors for the XDI HPFP pump. I know Gearhead sells them and upgraded turbos.

What was included in LMS e85 conversion? You will need to address the low pressure fuel pump for this as well. There is maybe 1 or 2 that I heard of running full e85 and one has gone through a few low pressure pumps. I heard Matt at Gearhead was working on a solution but not sure where that is at.

Hey fellas, possible to continue your discussions in a different thread, or possibly via PM's?

I'd appreciate it. Trying to keep this one reserved to the re-build of my SHO.

Plus, discussing it elsewhere may actually bring other people into the mix, with (beneficial) suggestions of their own respectively.

Thanks in advance.

Briefly texted with machine shop owner yesterday, 09/05/19......

He said that he has disassembled the heads, and has begun the porting and polishing.

Currently waiting on pistons to arrive. Once they do, he'll be able to begin the remaining machine work on the block.

Also, I am going to have the valve covers and intake plenum PC'd this time around. Not sure about what else to do in the visual arena as pretty much everything else is mostly out of sight.

Also, my local mechanic pal / friend is still awaiting return call from trans vendor he sourced. If that doesn't pan out, I have two other's waiting in the wings for me to call.

Just thought to provide an update. Happy Friday and hope everyone enjoys their upcoming weekend.

Oh, btw, I also asked/prompted/nudged the machine shop owner to send more engine **** pics to follow along in the process. Told him I'd appreciate seeing them, as would all of you. Forgot to add that bit.

WHERE'S OUR ****! WHERE'S OUR ****!

Seriously, this is great news and I can't imagine how you're not jumping out of your skin for it to hurry up and be done.

Thanks Stan. Appreciate the reply.

The pace of which it is going, is at times, painstaking to endure.

But in the same token, I just want it done right. So I have NOT ONCE pressured any of the current vendors involved to move/work faster.

Too important and to big of a job to be rushed.

But I am resolute and steadfast in my resolve for a great return. Speaking of return(s)......

I to harken the mantra of more (motor) ****!

Did you get any presumptive competition timeline? Cause, it’s not going to be long before we’re trudging through the inclement white stuff. I’m assuming at this point a build of this caliber will push well into next driving season.

@ Michelle...... THANKS!

@Zpak.....

You'd be correct in the next season.

Since my SHO no longer sees DD duties, yet alone winter use, I'm a-ok with that.

09/09/19.....

Sent off my core TC to GH today and have ordered up his company's upgraded TC offering for our beloved SHO platform.

Spoke to machine shop owner today, who said he's "getting close" to sending parts off for the WPC Treatment. He asked where the new PTU was/is at?

Had to get on the horn w/mechanic pal, who told me FMC shipped him a new one that was sans the drain plug. He sent it back, and the correct one is now on it's way.

I told machine shop owner about this, and then I pestered him for more "**** pics". To which he chuckled and promised me he'll remember to take some, and to send them my way, for everyone's ogling edification.

Seem to recall several almost new 2010-2011 SHO engines on car-part, southern yard. Assume they got the crash test leftovers.
Just looked and the lowest mileage mill on there is 33 K miles

Ummmm. Ok. And?

Failing to see how used engines for sale somewhere else in the country has any bearing whatsoever on this thread, or its subject matter.

Help me out there zak. What am I missing?

Are you going to have the PTU cooled? Monitoring will have to be external to the OBD system unless you can somehow update the PCM to handle the data. On a 2010-12, it is invisible to the PCM. If you decide to keep away from the cooling aspect, I would at least put a massive heatsink/adapter plate in that location.

If you find someone to manufacture a ptu case from billet or something stronger and incorporate a true cooling system in the design and not an afterthought as Ford designed. I cant imagine this car lasting very long if truly built to 1100hp and driven more than a showpiece.
If you find a PTU solution, you will probably make a fortune. Even if it's a simple one.

Sorry that post was meant to be longer. So, you have put the current block and crank through the wringer, with all the different tunes/power levels. Might be better off starting with a low mileage engine and freshening it up/changing rods and pistons.

Sure you can turn the crank down, but you are machining through a portion of the nitrided surface layer on the journals. Difficult to re-nitride as there is risk of warping the crank. Plus high boost levels have put a lot of harmonics into it, e.g. creating fatigue cycles. See the older supercharged SHO engines and their sometimes snapped crankshafts.

A low mile engine would also cut costs around head rebuilding - a 30 or 40 K mile head would not need new valves, valve guides or recutting the valve seats - just hot tank and replace the valve stem seals. Rebuilding higher mile heads can get expensive quick

Engines can be shipped, have shipped a few over the years, if you do a terminal ship or to your employers' shipping dock it could be only a couple hundred bucks.

My $0.02 - please feel free to ignore. Good luck with your build, assume it will be getting aftermarket rods.

Thank you for the clarification. I am using my existing block, which was/is a 2014 new production (at that time) and building it up from there.

I have no use, or rather any desire for, purchasing an entirely different (& used) block.

There'd be addt'l costs involved in just getting that (hypothetical next, used block) stripped down, diagnosed and going from there.

Given I'm already knee deep into the current re-build, embracing your suggestion would be fruitless.

But thank you for posting.
