Sound advice Zak.
Do they still do magnafluxing for cracks?
I haven't had any engines rebuilt in awhile. Crate engines spoiled me.

Spoke directly with Dakota Bowman, in the tech dept. over @ Deatschwerks and confirmed the fitment of the following upgraded LPFP. Ordered same today.

https://www.deatschwerks.com/9-307-1026

Also hit up Matt @ Gearhead today, and learned that my pending order for their company's upgraded TC is in progress now. Hopefully shipping out by week's end.

Also, had my transmission palleted up, strapped down, and loaded up for freight delivery to a vendor in MI. for reworking/upgrading. Deposit placed and more details to follow as those develop.

Finally, also spoke to machine shop owner performing my motor rebuild, and asked on any progress since our last communication. He replied that he is currently working on the porting and polishing of the heads. Informed me that the couple of ports that he has touched, are now flowing 20cfm's greater than stock, throughout the entire range.

So given the factory design is already fairly decent to begin with, this improvement will enhance and contribute to overall performance. Just another piece of the puzzle.

Still waiting on **** pics. Hopefully soon!

Great to hear of the progress! I always thought it'd be a good idea to port/polish the heads and shave them a touch to increase compression. Not sure if you mentioned it, but are you going to pick up 13+ manifolds to replace the 2010's or do you have something else in the works for that?

Brand spanking new PTU (w/drain) now at the machine shop, and currently being disassembled and prep'd for the WPC Treatment process.

Just thought to share what the internals look like, especially when new, and not filled with ***** used up ****/gear oil.235b393c1e8fa15aadc31318f5267c8a91260158e50f19810d317cc0f7e60f2aB26e229c7b4bdc66a536f56656ec3038

Hey bpd! Love reading all your posts, your help, giving you shit sometimes ;) and I'm following this thread. I love my 2014 SHO and have fun modding it, I bought it new and enjoy it every day for 6 years now! But I know there's some definite limitations on these cars - especially as you have shown all of us. Is there a reason you're staying so loyal to her given the cost and the amount of mods that are needed? I'm at a point I don't want to spend the money needed to mod compared to selling her and getting, for example, a 2016 Audi S6 with AWD, twin turbo V8 and some simple, inexpensive mods like an APR Stage 2 will get far more HP and Torque than the massive amount of money and mods it would take to get my SHO to the same level...

1st, I am glad you (& others) give me $h!t. Keep it coming my friend. Just remember, I enjoy slinging it back! Ha!

As far as remaining loyal to the SHO. That's a multi-pronged answer.

I've always been impressed with, and continue to be impressed with the platform. No matter the GENERATION!

I distinctly recall when growing up, and seeing the release of the 1st GEN. Just plain wow! As I grew older, and still desired a SHO as subsequent GEN's were released, the reality of the payments, coupled with exorbitant insurance rates for newer drivers, they dauntingly remained out of reach.

Many years later, after a 10yr hiatus, I heard that there was an grass roots effort to "Bring Back The SHO" & that FMC was actually doing so! Super stoked!

Thus why I immediately hopped on the SHO band wagon. I've been hooked ever since!

I continue to be impressed as the (term used loosely) "older" GEN owner's continue to keep their model year's not only running, but still tracking them, etc.

Just unreal to see the level of dedication from them, as their SHO's continue to age.

Toss into the mix that they're relatively low/limited production, just always seem to add the mystique/aura of the platform.

Never ceases to amaze me how many people DON'T KNOW about the car, and/or its capabilities. This, despite my constant advertising of it, and all the endless minutes/hours I spend engaging with spectators at various shows, track events, etc.

I like owning a "niche" vehicle. So I remain steadfastly committed to the platform, despite the involved expenses.

Expenses which even the older owner's heartily laugh about, as it pertains to owning a SHO.

SHO for life my friend!

Having owned a Benz AMG C32,. I think the Audi is in the same boat with how expensive parts and repairs can be. Even for simple stuff. Example;

My shifter went bad...900$
Driver power seat track....1300$

Granted... This was many years ago...but just silly pricing because it's considered a higher end vehicle.

If you could only swap the Audi AWD unit... That mechanical engineering was incredible. Even the original Quattro is still amazing by mechanical design.

09/20/19.......

Received the new, upgraded TC from GH. It's a 3 bolt design, which is most common.

I sent in a core that had a 4 bolt design, which was/is used on the 2010 "Job 1" builds as well as the majority of the 2010 "Job 2" builds.

No biggie really. It simply requires a change in the flywheel.

There's no (performance) difference between a 4 bolt, versus 3, and vice versa.

Anyhow, looking forward to the inclusion of another piece of the puzzle and kudos to Matt over at GH for bringing this aspect of improvement to the platform.

Oh yea, and the black paint is a nice finishing touch. Not that I, or anyone else will see it once installed mind you. But for those like me in the rust belt and winter season, it's a nice added touch to what I expect will be a great product.

DW LPFP, and the DW Injectors still in the shipping process. Hope everyone has a nice weekend.1992dda8d1c930091e63d4b72b840e58968b54e3d30de2843e94ffca07cc9a0b
