Ok here's the deal, last year I bought my SHO in the summer time and had no problems with it. But when winter hits and starts to get in the 50's again like it is the stupid speedo bounces and the ABS light comes on time to time. But this ONLY happens when it's cold never when it's hot like in the summer. So do you guys think it's the wheel sensors or what? I would take it to Ford but I bet they'll charge me $100 just to dignose whats wrong :bonk:

My speedo and Tach stick when it's cool. I've learned to deal w/ it. ABS could be something else.

Yeah I do, member the stupid black box thing broke on it and you told me to just tell em and they'll send a new one. They work now but the darn tach is sticking kinda. Think it would hurt anything to cut the hole out a bit more?

Forgot to put in the above post...how it's bouncing is it goes from 60-65 and will bounce inbetween thoughs 2 numbers and then it'll stop then start back up agian. I'm not saying this is the only speed it does it at because it'll do it regardless of what speed i'm going.

I know it's common on Gen 1's and 2's even with stock guages, it's usually the speedometer cable. Most time it just can be lubed up. :naughty:

In fact out of all 6 Gen 1's and 2's I don't think a single one didn't do this to some extent. I love not seeing my 97 do that, guess I won't be putting aftermarket guages in it...

How many miles on your car outta interest...

113K I think, mainly highway from the guy who owned it before me. But the thing of it is, we don't have a speedo cable. We get our speed signal from our ABS sensors that go to a computer that figures it all out then sends it to your speedo gauge.

O yes, your right, I forgot about that... then I don't know what to tell you, I have about 41k more than you on the 97, no problems as of yet...

But I have stock guages... ;)

Trust me guys it's not the new gauges that are doing it because this happend last year around the same time and persisted untill summer. When it was 0* out last year in the ice storm we had, it killed the gauge and it wouldn't move for anything as well as the ABS light was on the entire time.

Sounds like a bad sensor or ring. Run the ABS codes to see which one it is (you need a NGS code reader). May also be something lodged in the teeth of the ABS sensor ring.

I checked all the rings and they seem fine just alittle rusty. I'm wanting to say the sensors are bad my self but with out checking the codes is there anyway that I tell for sure if it's the sensors?

The sensors are a proximity type sensor that picks up the little tabs on the rings and sends out a pulse. If you can intercept this signal and with a volt meter monitor it while someone slowly turns the wheel you should see a pulse for every gap.

I would try wire brushing all the rings off.
