Boost Leak - I am sooo lost

So I did a data log this morning and confirmed that the waste gate percentage is at 100% and the average boost psi is around 11. So ******, should have fixed this last summer but she sure seemed like she ran fine! At least when it gets fixed she will be faster and a 14.13 dragy will be a thing of the past.

Anyhoo, I am so lost. I did a visual examination of all the connections and everything "looks" ok? Didn't see any stains or oil, and the connections seem tight. I ran into someone from this board this weekend and he said to check the hoses in the picture. Easy enough to replace those. I also thought about putting the original piece back in that goes from the intercooler to the throttle body. More process of elimination.

Any advice or word of encouragement would be appreciated. If I take it to a shop I will get *****, and working on cars is half the fun but like I said I am like a 6th grader in Calculus class right now. Thanks!

Most likely it started with a small hole in the piping and just got bigger and bigger over time. The most common spot for boost leaks on these is the piping between the intercooler and the throttle body, I would replace that to start. It is easy to do yourself and would cost less than the diagnostic fee a shop would charge just for looking at it. I think most people go with the explorer one because it does not have the fake noisemaker piece attached to it, which is just a source for leaks.

So I actually replaced that entire section with an aftermarket unit with meth bung last summer. I retightened all the connections last night and though they weren't loose, there was a lot of cranking to get those super snug! I really hope that is the issue and will do a data log this morning. If I am still at 100% I will replace the hoses on the solenoid. Thanks for your help with this

So I have a question. Do you suggest replacing the hoses off the boost solenoid with factory ones and better clamps or just buy vacuum hose and create my own? I remember a post where someone did that but can't find it

personally I would use spray bottle a drop of dish soap and spray down the hoses, then turn the engine on and look for bubbles and leaks, replace what you need. I would say using the stock new replacements if they are inexpensive and some stainless steel clamps. Just snug without crushing anything.

Agreed, stock replacements are significantly cheaper than the aftermarket ones and the plastic doesn't retain heat like the metal ones do. If I were doing it over again I would have used new stock ones.
