boggin issue loss of power

OK ive tried to figure this out with my shocago guys no avail.



problem: Off the line from a stop there is thunk backfire type sound coming from near the engine most anyone who has heard the sound says it sounds like a exhaust pop predetination. I replace the plugs wires tps maf both oxygen sensors did a oil change.

While the car is running it idles fine at about 900 800 rpm the exhaust note sounds funny while idling say fit fit fit fit fit fit really fast and thats the sound like a fluttering exhaust if you will. So basically i dont have any off the line power but once it gets up past 10 mph and i hammer it i get a descent amount of power but not as much as it used to and its a rough acceleration. once i get it goin i can reach 110 no problem. i need help and i cant figure this out. by the way NO CODES AT ALL:shakehead

Have you checked the timing belt?
Did you follow the correct friring order for the spark plugs?
Clean MAF?

What wires?

I just had a brand new set of Accel wires go bad. Same symptoms as yours.

Try this. Pop to hood at night. remove your underhood bulb, and blip the throttle at the throttle body sharply. Look closely at the plug wires, specifically behind the throttle body. You may see them 'glow' as you blip the throttle. The glowing is the wires arcing, and that isn't good.

the firing order is correct i do a test on the wires but not that one ill try it i turned all the lights off in my garage and took that bulb out and misted water in the air in the engine bay to see if it arced and i got nothing. i also cleaned and replace the maf no help.

Did you end up checking the wires? What kind did you use? My SHO did the exact same thing, Car was **** slow. Replaced the plugwires with brand new Motorcraft wires and plugs and the car runs like a Champ.

What diagram are you following? Several are WRONG..
Also sounds like when I got water and/or oil in my spark plug wells...
Idled crappy..

im following the same one i used for years on my old sho which was a 94 mtx man the wires did not glow :-(

Sounds like butterflies are failed open.

hmmmmm thats interesting i have felt that might be it but how do i test that because the secondarys open up fine.

the secondaries being stuck open won't cause bogging. The car will idle and run properly. It just won't have much low end torque.

Could backpressure form clogged CATS cause this?

Sounds like a bad coil pack or DIS module to me.

its like bogging surging but definitly like something is holding the car back. i will try the dis and the coil pack wish me luck throw more suggestions thanks fellas.

oksomething new while i was trying my tach went awol and hit 8 grand and stayed there lights air bag lights coming off and on but the speedo was fine ???

Cam position sensor? If the tach acts up, usually it is the cam sensor.
From what I have heard, when it goes completely, it will crank and not start.
And the tach will not move at all, or much, when this happens.

Cam sensor? Alternator? Last problem sound like a voltage/ground issue to me

after i drive it for a while then i stop somewhere it does not start up on the first few cranks it takes a few then it fires right up.

No codes simply means it's not a sensor-related or sensor-detectable problem - not that there is no problem.

First, where is the "fit fit fit" sound coming from or most notable? Underhood? Inside the car while sitting in the drivers seat? Behind the car as if it's coming from the exhaust pipe?

Is this sound directly tied to engine rpm?

How many miles and when was the last 60k done?
