I'm looking to buy a 91. It revs fine under no load conditions, but as soon as the engine has a load it only revs to 3000 before getting bogged down and loosing all power. Apparantly the engine has good compression and does not leak or burn oil. The car has had schedualed 60ks in fact had one 75k miles ago. The owner believes the sho has a bad sensor somewhere and does not believe the problem is mechanical. Could this problem be the dread "crank-cancer"? Anyone have any suggestions as to what it could be?

That does not sound like a crankshaft position sensor. If that sensor fails, the engine dies completely - no spark whatsoever. No, that car's condition sounds like a restricted fuel flow (weak pump, clogged fuel filter) or restricted exhaust (damaged catalytic converters that will rattle when tapped and whose loose parts have clogged either the cat(s) or the downstream piping).

This sounds just like a 91 that I looked at. Where is this car located?
