Blazer Fogs

First of all, I like the informative how-to site by notsoslowsho. But my question is, cuz I've never seen the blazer set up, do you cut the wires from the blazers and stick them into the stock wiring harness' connector? Is that how they work with the stock setup? Also, my fogs are dead and have been for years. Im just now starting to drive the SHO and I need some fogs and just brighter head lights to make it easier to see at night. Im hoping its just the OEM Fogs that are dead and not somethign wrong with the wiring cuz I'm very inexperienced when it comes to electronics. Any input about the blazers and headlights is appreciated.

As for the fog light wiring, its really easy! Just take out the harness for the original wiring, and splice the harness to the new fog lights. Here is a picture, see the little blue connectors on the wires? That the splicing point.

What year is your sho? If its a Gen I, Im pretty sure the install is easier than on a Gen II.

Thanks man, I did read your post, I was just hazy on whether the blue connectors came with the kit or if you bought them and if the black connectors were from the SHO. I have an 89 so it should be a little easier, at least I hope so. Whered you get em? Walmart?

After looking all over the place, I did find them at walmart. They are the Blazer All Weather Series. The part # is C1077 KBM. I got the blue connectors at Sears. They're alot safer than just stripping the wires and wrapping them with electrical tape. After I spliced them I did wrap them with tape though. Hope it works out for ya

I was actually masochistic enough to remove the stock wiring from the old lamps and thread it into the Blazers. Ground eyelet and bulb connector connected right up , though was a bit PIA to get the eyelet threaded through the grommet on the Blazer.

when i hit my fog light switch now, they dont work and the light on the switch doesnt light up either. will this mean that even if i change to blazers or piaa that they prolly wont work either because of a short or something???

SHOoter34, Did you do any custom wiring(Ie. the fog light mod) to cause the lights to not work with the switch? Or was it like that when you had the car?

Ya know, I'm going to jump in here too because I consider myself one step above ******** when it comes to wiring.

My fogs don't work either, but the switch does light up when pressed. I replaced the H3 bulbs, but still nothing. The more informative, the better.

no i didnt raze, the fogs havent worked for years...i just started drivin the car and i wanted to get some light...u think its a short somewhere? cuz everything is still stock..no mods

if you have a short your fuse should be blown, so take a looksie and let us know. if the fuse is intact then its most likely a connection or ground problem. im going to attempt putting my blazers in my gen2 this weekend so let us know what you find in case i run into the same thing. thanks!

About the fog lights not lighting up, That happened to me, and it turned out to be the connection where the wiring harness meets the wire that goes up into the car. It wasn't seated properly, so it just needed to be pushed in more. Also check the wear on the connection points, sometimes they can get corroded...like on mine
