how do i release the tension on the serp belt ? im replacing the alt. thanks

Put a wrench on the tensioner hold down bolt(18 or 19 millimeter) and rotate the assembly against the spring pressure...remove belt...

In all caps:
SLOWLY RELEASE THE TENSION

It's near the alternator pulley, near the middle of the engine, away from the front of the car. It's the only one that moves when you try to "tighten" the bolt that holds it on. (I can find it, but it's hard to describe. I've been away from ATX's for four years. :)) Put your wrench on it and push down (clockwise) until the pulley has released enough tension to remove the belt. When the belt is off, slowly ease up on the wrench until the tension is gone. Reverse to install the new belt.
