Sounds lika a wiiiih. depends on the idle. when i push the pedle the sound stops at 4000rpm. but when i drive it dosen`t stop. any ideas ?

Mabye the altenator because when they go it sounds like you're running a turbo. If that isn't the sound than i don't know. I would have to actually hear it or you would have to be more specific where it is coming from.

Weird. See if you can tell where it is coming from in the engine bay.
I use the FL-1A oil fitler, rather than the FL400.

The battery light lets you know if voltage is down severely. Mine never came on when my old alternator was dying. I did however get whining noises once in a while. Take a trip to Autozone and have your alternator tested. If it's got reasonable output, check it again in a few weeks or a month, and make sure it isn't dropping, as mine did. As for the whine, I also get it from (I belive) worn synchros in the transmission. It's easy to identify, whenever I accellerate hard in 3rd, I hear it.

Can you purchase parts for American cars in Norway? What year is your SHO? Do you have a manual or automatic transaxle? The tension adjuster pullies can make the noise you describe. It is easy to check them, just remove the belt(s) and spin the pulley. You said the noise stops over 4000 RPM? I'm am not 100% certain, but the computer may shut the air conditioning off at that engine speed. The computer for certain is supposed to turn the AC off at wide open throttle. Is it possible, since it is so cold in Norway, that the noise is your teeth chattering? Good luck, keep us posted. Police don't like decals in the windows?????? No problem with that over here.
