Battery Wire Gauge Size 89 SHO

New guy here with a question...anyone know what the size of the battery-starter solenoid wire is on an 89 SHO?
I'm replacing the one on my car because the wire that's currently there is HUGE. The PO used 1 gauge or larger and it looks like a straight up hack job the way it is right now.
Would 4 gauge wire suffice for this application? I'm not sure how much amperage the starter draws so yeah, any and all advice would be appreciated...

I think the stock wire was 2 or 4 leaning toward 4.

Awesome, thanks for the reply.

I removed the battery cable from the car and after cleaning it off it does say motorcraft on it, so it must be the stock piece?
I ended up just replacing the battery terminal and calling it good. I figured while I have the car torn apart doing rod bearings and a clutch job, I should probably take care of all the little things like this that annoy the **** outta me lol.

The cable measures 2/0 btw, in case anyone else was wondering.
