Well, I go to get into my SHO last night at about 9:00 after leaving work, turn the key, nothing happens except everything electrical dies. It comes back momentarily. No problem, the negative battery terminal must be loose again. That wasn't it. So a friendly guy with a Gen 1 SLO pulls up, and helps me for about 1/2 hour. My jumper cables are too cheap to allow enough current for a jump start, my positive battery terminal is too loose, and needs the socket set at home to be tightened, and my battery may have been dead. We finally give up, I call someone else, we use one of those emergency start things, and I head home. This morning, we start playing with it again. Tightening the terminals does nothing. We can't start the car from the battery charger either. Now considering once in a while the starter solinoid decides to click, we figure it must be dead. 15 minutes later, we have a new one in, and no results. It's finally down to the battery, and the terminals probably aren't helping. I've got the thing hooked to the charger now, and after that, it's a trip to Sears for a new battery. Ahhh... my SHO sure loves me! And on the day the guy who sold it to me might help me do some work on it.

So does the battery sound like it's most likely the problem? Thanks!

Either the battery (AutoZone will test it for free) is dead/dying, the battery terminals (pretty likely, clean and tighten them), or the battery cables.

Your symptoms sound like bad connections/cables and a dead battery caused by them. Can't charge through crappy/loose/corroded connections.

A $5 cheapy digital meter from Harbor Freight can make troubleshooting this a shap. Otherwise, inexpensive but decent digital meters are available from about $20 from Sears and Radio Shack.

Well, new battery from Autozone did the trick. I've also got some new terminals, but haven't put them in yet. Next job - the dying alternator...

If you know it's dying, do not delay in replacing it. It can ruin your new battery.

Pull it and take it to AZ also, they will test it for you and verify if it is good or bad.
