I'm new to this forum. I've been a SHO owner since 2013. The car has been very reliable with no major worries. As everyone who owns a taurus knows, rear visibility is not great! For the past several months, the backup camera stops working after driven 15+ miles. Ofcourse, after it sits several hours, it works. I asked my local service advisor and he suggested updating software. I'm no engineer, but I can't see software fixing something that worked fine for 4.5 years. Seriously, WTH?

Nope on the APIM software. I don' think there are any messages for the camera on sync2 systems.

What color is the screen. Blue is the camera is conncted but no video. Black is the APIM is getting no video signal. Remember the old V.C.R days, same stuff.

The camera is a module. It has a single wire communication circuit, power, ground and two video circuits. The camera is always on when the ignition is on but only generates a signal when commanded.

A fuzzy image is usually a communication circuit fault or pinfit.

This is the image on screen when rear camera is not operational. If anyone has experienced this, I am looking for a fix.20180330 073148

Check for software updates. Sometimes a call to Ford is required since the dealer is not aware. Have seen this fix this type of camera error.

Thank you all for the suggestions. Guess its off to the dealer and hope updates are all that it needs? If that doesn't fix it, new camera.

You can update the Customer Interface Protocol from your p.c. by creating a syncmyride.com account through ford.

The Vehicle Interface Protocol is only dealer updateable

I stopped by my ford dealer to ask about any updates. Well, they offered to update for $400-600. That seems a bit much! I still haven't had it done. Anyway, the camera doesn't go black anymore. Now it's upside down. WTH?

And they wonder why they cannot sell cars.
