On the end of the axle that goes inside the trans, there is a "C" clip that snaps into a groove inside the mating piece in the trans. That clip is listed as a "one time use" piece, although I have re-used them successfully. If that clip is missing or bad, the axle will not be secured in the trans. Reportedly, the axle cv joints will not long survive this condition, so it is not something to be ignored.

The passenger side on an MTX is a 2 piece design. There is an innermediate shaft that has the carrier bearing on it. This carrier bearing bolts to the rear engine/power steering bracket with 2 10mm bolts. The passenger side CV shaft connects to this innermediate shaft via a C clip. These C clips can be very difficult to remove sometimes. A few sharp tugs with a pry bar should release it from it's home.

Hope this helps, Brian
