The cheap wire is the aluminum that is copper coated. Not really worried about it getting the job done because it has so far, just how it handles the heat.Cheap wire carries the current just as well as expensive wire.
Copper clad wire now days is stable and not what the 70s wires were. It's all about the insulation rating. Look for 90c wire and you will be fineAluminum wire used to be used in homes but not anymore. The wire heats and softens at the connection points and can start to arc.
I'd replace it with a good all copper wire.
