Not much, they start to lose some ground versus an mtx sho at around 80mph. I had a black on black atx with solid mounts, I wish I kept it... it was very reliable and quick! I wouldn't recommend an auto if you plan on putting some serious power down, going with nitrous and/or a blower.

I say if it's in good condition buy it and do the Gen III subframe and MTX conversion at the same time down the road.

I have one of each. The power in more controllable in the MTX car, myself I like to control the shift points. Both are great cars, I have had to ATX car only for 2 months and still learnning it's ways.

I would recommend that you decide what you really want and then WAIT until you find it. It took me 6mos of searching, but once I found the car I wanted, I've never looked back. If you take something that you think you might like, you never do!

I say go for it, then do a MTX swap or GenIII/MTX swap, like someone else mentioned. Black on black is an awesome color combo, and decent SHOs are harder to find all the time.

Depends what you want out of the car. If it's going to be your "baby", then wait for an MTX. If it's going to be your "*****", get the ATX and drive the wheels off of it.

i've never driven an atx sho but my winter beater is an auto and i just get really bored driving it without shifting and clutch work, but then again if you get stuck in bumper to bumper traffic more than once a month get an atx

Want parts for the trans? Get a auto. Want to baby the heck out of the car, pray that you don't break third, or have a diff pin shoot out, then can't buy any parts and have to replace with a used one? MTX is the way to go.

On this he is correct. I've always been partial to MTX's. I get so bored driving an auto.

I'd wait and get what you want. You could always try to find an MTX that needs a paint job and paint it black.

Which transaxle has more mods to their car ATX or MTX?

MTX

Which one has a limited slip diff?

MTX

Which one has more S/C or Turbos?

MTX

Which one costs $2000+ to rebuild after 100k cause it doesnt want to live.

ATX

Sean you get the point. You do not need to baby it. The MTX does quite fine and holds up to quite a bit of abuse. ATX are quite the weak link till rebuilt and still even then.

It depends on what you want. If you want to row and have more mods get MTX. If you want to have a DD get an ATX.

Back in Michigan ... again.
If you're concerned about an ATX just because it might be a little slower, then don't even bother getting a SHO, because you'll be disappointed when you can't even pull away from a new Toyota Camry.

It's not much slow, I like them, And you can get new parts for them.. True it cost alittle to have them rebuilt, if there not out of the car!
