Sorry for another audio question but I need some help. I wanted to put an aftermarket pioneer cd player in my 91 but Im having a bit of trouble. I was just gonna use the extra speaker harness under the dash but the only 1 I found is already connected into another harness. Do I dissconnect it from there ? I found the power harness ,with the JBL it looks like it has a power harness that plugs into the main power harness and splits in two for the radio and cd player. So I dissconnect that also? Sorry Im just a bit confused and last thing I wanna do is fry something.

So rip everything out and redo it all with fresh cable? Or replace all the speakers, ditch the amps and get an amp bypass cable.

Ok. I take it you have the stock JBL in your car now? If so the gray plug in the back of the radio is the power one. The other plug will look just like that and will be black instead. And yes, i think it will be plugged into another harness.

I THINK it goes, from the deck to the amps, back to the front to the black plug, then too all of the speakers. Thats why the other plug would be plugged into another harness.

If you wish to keep the JBL for a while, you will need the JBL integration harness, which has a separate plug for that grey harness, plus the Ford harness. Otherwise, you may want to re-wire or bypass the amp with a bypass harness. Searching will turn up part numbers for you. Good luck!

I had my JBL radio tested today and it powers up fine, tape player works fine, but it wont pick up a single station,it just searches thru nonstop. What causes this? Can it be fixed?

Also going aftermarket, Ive read here yes you can bypass the amp with the second speaker harness ,well I looked inside to the left, and its pluged into another black harness with wires going into it.I assume they go back to the amp.

Sorry Im just a bit confused.

Unplug that harness to the left and use it with your aftermarket radio. You will also need a ford radio harness from wal-mart, or if you like to spend more money, best buy.

Rip out all the stock stuff and run your own wires. In the end, it's the only thing to do...

I got the plugs today for the speakers connector and the power connector that goes from the aftermarket into the stock ford connectors. If I goes this route,do I just unplug the amp in back? Sorry for the questions, there are so many wires everywhere for this JBL stuff.

As long as you are going aftermarket with the radio, i would just unplug the amps. You dont have to rip it all out and run your own wiring, its all already there.

speakers question

Gentlemen,
I want to keep my factory radio and CD but want to replace/upgrade all my speakers. Anyone do this and can give me suggestions/brand names/part numbers for these components? They must be compatible with my stock radio with no-to-minimal cutting or modifying anything. Thanks much and appreciate your time
Jim

If you go into best buy or even circuit city, they can tell you what size speakers you need for the front and rear. Whenever i have boughten speakers, they have gone right into the factory location with no modification.

As for brand, its really whatever you want to go with. I like pioneer stuff.

doors-6.5"
back- 6x8" or 6x9" (you have a much wider setection with the 6x9"s), and 5x7"(yes two pairs, if you are keeping the stock HU and amp, for more sound anyway) You could probably just get a pair of 6x9"s and call it good and have great sound.

The doors are easy, but the back ones a kinda tough to get in there right if you dont go with the 5x7"/6x8" Ford size speaker.
