I have a 95 SHO with the ATX. I noticed that when going WOT that it shifts at 7000 RPM for the 1-2 shift, but will only go to about 5500 RPM for the 2-3 shift. I did check my codes and only got a code for the front 02 sensor (which I will be testing and replacing if necessary). Otherwise - any thoughts on this as I thought it should rev up to 7000 RPM for each shift (it will if I hold it in 2).

Thanks

Dave

Both the 95 ATX SHO's I've had have done the same thing. I've heard some guys say they will let it shift to 2nd, then move the selector to second and force it to 7000 when running the 1/4 mile or racing. You can also get an LPM to reprogram the shift points I believe. They seem to be programmed from the factory as more of a soft luxury type shift instead of a crisp performane one, with the shift points (rpm) reflecting as such.

My '94 ATX consistantlys hit the fuel cut-out on the 1-2 shift at WOT. Some say it's my tired ATX not shifting soon enough. Does your '95 do this? Any insight?

Somebody's got some car problems, and it's not me!

I was reading this thread yesterday, and wasn't sure how mine acted, so I took it for a good run last night. My '93 ATX (rebuilt about 40k miles ago) shifts at an indicated 43mph and 6800rpms going from 1-2. It shifts at 81mph and 6400rpms going from 2-3. It will gladly stay in third gear up to 110mph (that's as much room as I had on I-75 last night).

If you're shifting 2-3 at 5500rpm there's something strange going on. Also, if it shifts that early, by the time third gear kicks in you're probably out of the powerband (you don't want it to drop below 4000rpm, it's a torque thing).

Good luck.

I'm not too worried about it as it does shift fine so far - just shifts a bit early. My ****** GT does the same thing ever since I got it - shifts well before the redline and is still going strong. I'll probably look at it more once if I run into other shifting problems. Especially since others here have theirs shift the same way.

Thanks for the replies.
