The other day when I drove the car I heard an air leak noise coming from the shifter area. In park there is no noise but in reverse, neutral, drive, 2, and 1 the noise is constant. It will stop in between gears and makes the same noise at each gear. Like I said it's an air leak noise and when driving it is not loud enough to be heard, only when stopped and with the radio turned down quite low. Any thoughts as to where I can look for a problem? Thanks, Mike

There is a vacuum operated switch that controls the automatic parking brake release. This would probably be the best place to start, it is located adjacent to the shifter assembly. The console will have to be removed.

Thanks, I'll check that out. Is this a part that would more than likely need to be replaced or is a piece where a connection could have come loose??? Not familiar with this. Mike

There is a vacuum switch thats on the sifter itself, check with the dealer, I don't know how much or how hard they are to replace, easy fix it to just pull off the line and cap it, just won't have the auto e-brake release

Hmmm, if I lose my auto ebrake release I won't be able to have much fun this winter in vacant parking lots. I'll pull the console this weekend and check it out.
