transmission now in car and working good, one question for the trans gurus, under part throttle the shifts are not what im used to when a shift kit is installed, the shifts are like a chevy transmission uuuuuuuuuaaaaaaaahhhhhh, will a D4U1 firm up part throttle?
can I go to the EPC and adjust it? under WOT the trans shifts good and solid, dont bark no tires but trans dont slip under load, thank in advance

I take it that "uuuuuuuuuaaaaaaaahhhhhh" mean's at part throtle It is shifting late from 1-2 shift? and feels sloppy?

Here's a couple of questions:
1-Does it shift late and hard only in D/OD during all upshifts(1-2,2-3,ect....)?
2-Can you feel it downshifting hard or not at all?
3-After coming to a stop does it dowshift to 1st when pulling out or a delayed first gear clunk coming to a stop ?
4-If it is manually shifted does it feel the same?
5-Your positive that all the sensor's are plugged in(TSS,VSS,MLP,and shift solenoids)?
6-What are the actual Line pressure reading's?
7-Was the Valve Body overhauled or replaced?

There was a way you could change the EPC pressure using the Ford NGS tester and the Flash Cable for reprograming, but only for 96 & up vehicles.I honestly have only seen it done once by a Ford Instructor and can't remember how he got in(like a back door into PCM).Never really needed to change it.
The last time I had one shift late/hard after an overhaul it ended up being me not having the TSS(on the side of trans above L/S axle)plugged on.
I also remember one that the EPC solenoid was bad and had similiar concerns.
Or is a Shift accumulator or valve sticking/hung up?
That's all I can think of for now but if you can get PSI readings it helps out the most when trying to pinpoint a problem.Codes and a good description as well are always helpfull too. :thumb:

EDIT:The **** Tubes don't look to happy either, your sure they are not to mashed up and still can supply enough **** to differential and ect...?
Don't want to see it burn up for you.

Was the Sonnax kit the only kit to go in the tranny, or did you also install a TransGo?

While technically possible, I wouldn't count on the D4U1 alone to provide a firmness increase ... ;)

Line pressure adjustment via the EPC is possible through three popular methods: a) installing one of several available pressure-riser kits (which typically allow an increase in firmness only), b) adjusting the line pressure setting screw in the valve body (not recommended due to lack of calibration and predictability), or c) modifying the EEC directly via a chip or tuner.

Personally, I would recommend method c) since the results are repeatable and much more predictable.

Glad to hear the tranny is in and working like it should! :)

well uh, so many questions to answer, let me see
the trans im happy with, dont really see any problems,
im sure its working corresctly, just concerned why after
a transgo kit it dosent have a firmer part throttle shift
im more accustomed to?
the transmission I did rebuild
came from a junkyard, and when I pulled it apart it was
in very good condition,
only issue it had was slightly burned flex band
and slightly burned direct clutches, in fact all
I did change was the band and that drum of
clutches, everything else stayed, looked perfect.

I added a transgo shift kit and two items from the
sonnax sure cure kit, the **** tube bracket & the
oversize planetary retaining clip and an upgrade
F6 EPC
The transmission valve body was clean so was the
transmission inside, it was ******, ford assembled.

I have only put maybe 4 miles on it since and 2 miles
of it was@ WOT, car needs to be alighned and needs
probably a tune up maybe im just misssing a few ftlbs of
torque, time will tell.

line pressure readings were in the middle of the range except
for park, park was 75% of the range higher, when I checked it,

I dont remember if the trans downshifted, it wasnt red flagging me
so I think it was normal, I need more time to drive it around, I will
keep you guys updated, thanks for the support!

just seen 93shonoff statement on my **** tubes, what do you see that concerns you?
I thought them **** tubes are secure now, I paid $80 just for the sonnax sure cure kit
to get the **** tube bracket that keeps them from popping out, on top or that the rear **** tube is pressed in brass, interference fit, that sucker wont leak ever again,
the little seal that comes in the kit was an insult to all transmission builders IMHO
