well im gona finally attempt to do my CPS tomarrow. Ive researched it alot on here and at shotimes and im pretty confident i can do it. I very mechanicly inclined and can hold my own on a "normal" car but ive never been into an SHO motor besides taking off the intake and valve covers. What im really worried about is the timing. Any suggestions or tips to make this easier on myself? Im just doing the CPS for right now as this is my daily driver and i dont have the lut for a water pump and timing belt right now but this winter the car will get them.
Is there anyway to get around taking off the timing belt and gears on an ATX? and if i have to how do i make sure its timed right when i put it back together. like ive said ive read through shotimes articles but i just wana make sure i dont really screw up my car.

Sorry for the long post and im sure u guys have been asked these Q's millions of times but any help would be apperciated. TIA!!!!

Well its basically a straight forward job. The hardest thing is usually getting the crank bolt out. You should probably take off the timing belt to get better access to the cps. But its pretty easy to get it re timed. Just line up the cams at noon (there are little punch holes on the cam gears and a notch at about noon on the cover to line that up, then the bottem just line up the crank notch with the notch on the block, (about 5 o'clock on a dial) put the timing belt back on using the timing marks and your ready to go. But make sure the belt is facing the right way.
Good luck... :thumb:

When you get the new CPS on be sure to gap it at .030 with a feller guage between the CPS and the vein wheel on the crank there are 3 veins and 3 opening on the wheel. You'll see what I am talking about when you you remove the old one. You do not nee to remove the wheel on the crank just turn the crank with the a socket and ratchet on the crank bolt till the CPS is in the opening take out the two screws and that is it. Did mine last week took about 5 hrs. but did T-belt and water pump as well. Good luck.
