I just got a full rebuild with transgo shift kit installed!I just want to make sure it is all working right..When I go 0-100 WOT between shift it is really smooth but it even stutters sometimes...It dont shift hard between gears at all!If i am going slow it shifts pretty hard..if i go 0-30 and let off it jerks the hole car REALLY hard!!From 50 mph and up if I gun it,it jerks the car really hard and then goes! Does that sound like your car? I hear of people squaking tires between gears but mine would never be close to that!

Damn man, my prayers go out to you. It sounds like they F'ed your ATX again. Even with my LPM my car breaks the tires loose on the 1-2 shift. At WOT my car shifts fast and ******* the 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4 shifts. If I gun it at 50 mph, the SHO will go into 2nd gear w/o any jerking except for the acceleration. I don't know what to tell you bud.

I have a theory is to what they MAY have done. They probably charged you for the kit and either forgot to put it in, or, they tried to modify the valve body itself w/o putting the Transgo in. I dunno.....

Sounds a lot like my trans after the 1-2 shift accumulator spring broke. At low throttle settings, it shifted into second gear so hard that it broke the front mount. If the guy who installed your kit missed the warning not to install the kit supplied 1-2 accumulator spring and spacer and use the factory spring instead, that could account for the harsh 1-2 shifting at low throttle.
Everything else sounds like what my car is did before I added the TedB LPM. When I bought the LPM, I had Ted program the chip for maximum shift firmness. Really helped. I had my trans guy re-check my trans yesterday. He says that the 2-3 shift valve is hanging up. He says he can get the valve body out without removing the trans???? Since he was the trans guy at the local dealership, and when he started his own shop they now send him all of their trans work, I trust him. I think you should have the guy who built your trans drive your car so he can see what it's doing.
Good luck
Bill

My tranny doesn't **** or stutter. I am using a custom burned Superchip. If you get a chance, why don't you call Doug at FPS (770) 949-7191 and ask him what it is supposed to shift like. He may be able to help you.

Depending on throttle position, you either can't feel it shift (Very light throttle) or it's pleasantly firm (Moderate to heavy throttle) on the 1-2 and 2-3 shift. AT WOT, it's firm, but not tire chirping firm. I suspect that there are some trans re-builders who take one look at that kit and either don't install any of it because it intimidates the **** out of them, all the drilling etc, or just do what they are comfortable with. If it wasn't so terrifically expensive, I would buy one of Doug Lewis's transmissions. ($2200.00 for the trans, $1,000 for the core charge, $600.00 freight both ways, and 9.1 hours, $787.00, to have someone R&R it, $3587.00 total.)
Hope you get your trans fixed right.
Good luck
Bill

If I ever have to have anything like this done again, I am going to ask the shop it they use Transgo kits. If they are an independent shop, I will further ask them if they can supply me with the names of other SHO owners that they have rebuilt transmissions for. Just because you are dealing with the Ford dealer, that is no guarantee that the guy who is rebuilding your trans knows what he is doing. Once again, Doug Lewis’s transmissions are very attractive for a first time rebuild on a SHO.

I just posted on a diffrent post about the same thing.
I went to a local tranny shop and spoke with the owner. I told him about the car and the bad history with the trannys in them. He gladly installed my transgo kit, and he did tell me about certain parts in the kit that can't be installed on a SHO.

He also explained the car will shift quicker and harder after the rebuild with the kit. He was right. When trannys are manufactured they are made to fail. They are made to shift slowly and that creates major heat build up. They do that so the customer feels more comfortable when the car shifts.

What a diffrence. The car does jump into gear kinda hard even on regular accel. But it shifts perfectly when under heavy acceleration. And I do get 2nd gear rubber.
