Anyone use AAMCO?

hey all, I’m currently sitting in the AAMCO waiting room while getting my PTU fluid changed. I should have asked before hand, but I didn’t so I’m asking now, any experience with them? Are they any good? Anyone had issues?

Update: quoted me 89, guy just came in to tell me it would be 250 because they have to “take your exhaust off” so just gonna head home for now and do her myself later on down the line.

They don't have to take off the exhaust. ....it if has a drain plug, use aluminum foil and cover the downpipe......

Ford will charge you the same or less AND use Motorcraft fluid. I always considered AAMCO the McDonalds of the automotive repair world. Here in Canada back in the 80's and 90's, they were often associated with shady ethics and repairs.

1st, replies are correct in that exhaust does not need to be removed. Important to note that not all model year's have the drain plug on the PTU housing.

Moving along, it's been decades later, and I still hear that stupid AAMCO jingle in my head....

AAMCO locations are independently owned franchises. Hit or miss, for sure. I've had really good luck with mine.

I may be wrong, but I believe I read somewhere the maintenance card calls for the removal of the DP to access the vent/fill hole. I agree its not really necessary but some places will stick to the card to avoid getting sued down the road. I am NOT taking up for AAMCO just adding context.
