Hey guys,

Lookin for some new tires and came across these. They've gotten good reviews but hae found nothing about their snow capabilities. If anyone could help out I would appreciate it. Also, if you know of any other tires I could look at the hold nicely, wear well, and are good in snow I'd love to know. Thanks

If you must equip for the snow, TireRack thinks they perform quite well too (see review here). You are aware that you will sacrifice both dry and wet weather traction when wearing snow-capable tires?

Thanks for the info. TireRack is where I found out about these tires. I'm looking for a good all around tires. Since we get a decent amount of snow in MA I need something that will work well. How reliable/accurate do you think TireRack's opinion is?

I think I've narrowed it down to:
-Continental ContiExtremeContact
-BF Goodrich Traction T/A (though still trying to find user info on these as they're new)

Thanks again.

NO NO NO...Continental ContiExtremeContact!
Read all the comments!!!
Read about the 14th one down, from a guy in Cincinnati, who has a 95 SHO.
That was me....they were the worst tires I've ever had. headbang I had 4 brand new ones on.
It scared the **** out of me to drive on them.
They created and really bad, and scary, understeer. The braking was horrible, and the ride was terrible. Part of a major highway in Cincinnati is all new pavement and smooth as glass, but on these tires the ride was still bad.
I had them balanced twice, and needed to have them a balanced a third time, but I sent them back and got the Pirelli Pzero Neros.

I talked with a guy at the tire place where I had the Pirellis' aligned and he even said that they weren't designed for a heavy car like the Sho.

Don't waste your money on them. Yeah, they looked good and did handle the rain well, but the first agressive turn or lane change I made, made my butt clinch the seat so hard I think I tore the leather! lol

I don't drive really agressive, but even when I wasn't the brakes were a lot less responsive, and the understeer....well I think you get my point.

I don't know why the rating was so high, shrug I gave them very low numbers on handling and braking and cornering. But it's their numbers.

I was able to take advantage of the 30 trial period and send them back and got the Pirelli's. Great tire for where I live!
Tire Rack is awesome!!
Hope this helps!! thumb

I recently purchase a set or Pirelli P7000 Supersports. THese are rated for all seasons and so far I haven't found anythign wrong with them. Now, I haven't had many sets of tires so I dont know exactly how these compare to anything else. But I have not noticed anything drasitcally different from the Goodyear's that were on the car when I got it.
Someone mentioned that you sacrafice some wet and dry traction for snow-capable tires. I was looking on the Pirelli web site, and they also have a P7000 not rated for mud and snow. But they have the exact same tread design, I think the only difference is avaliblity of sizes.
Most of the reviews that I read for these tires were excellent as I bought them from TireRack also.

Looked at the Pirelli PZero Neros. They aren't made in the size needed.

Tire Rack has the Bridgestone RE950. Any reviews of these? Tire Rack seems to have all favorable reviews.

Wish I could find a review of those BF Goodriches. Thanks for the help everyone.

I was ready to rip into you because I thought you were the SHO owner leaving a childish survey response. But it's an owner from Sioux Falls.

I do have to say though that tires won't create or decrease understeer. What it will do is accentuate existing under/oversteer. What might be is that the Conti's don't have stiff sidewalls. I found the Dunlop Sp4000s to not be up to par because of having soft sidewalls on a narrow slicer. But everyone else seemed to love them. That's why I always promote wider rims whenever possible. I think what Tmade experienced was very slow turn-in. Especially with all those handling mods. Why you putting on all-seasons with all those mods?

If you've got aftermarket rims, you should have better tires. #1 rule in enhancing a SHOs handling: wider rims and tires.

I have the Bridgstone 950 on mine. and couldn't be happier. I have over 225k on this car, and have had quite a few tires on it over the years. During the good times and the lean times. The BF were too mushy. So far the 950's have been the best. There tight, tread wear has been great, and the car holds the ground. I yank and bank alot and floor this car everywhere, and they have yet to break traction. the wet weather handling is great. I can't vouch for snow, the only white down here, is on the Seniors in the RV's.

Well thanks for not ripping me!! lol
The reason I bought the Continentals was because of the reviews and thought they would be great for year round, I don't have a second set of rims and tires yet for winter driving. So I needed some tires that that could me thru the winter this year.
But yes the sidewalls are weak on the continentals. The sales guy at tire rack gave me the impression that, "oh yeah these are great performance all seasons". But they weren't.
I love the Pirelli's and like the ratings they had, but will check with other Sho owners before buys some winter tires!!! thumb
