Reverse polarity diode. Change it. Costs a buck for two at radio shack. Its near the power input. Two points to unsolder. Not too hard. First time soldering and I didn't mess anything up, and I had a crappy iron and shaky hands.
Fixed. :)

I'm going to put mine in the 95 for the convention road trip. I'll just stick the magnetic antenna on the center/rear of the trunk near the rear windshield; then just run the wire through the car. I don't want to hard wire the CB in my car though.

For a genII, a FireStick second gen dodge hood mount works perfectly to mount off the back of the car, on the plastic between the plates and taillights. On the GenI, I wasnt able to do it. I made a bracket that used the two upper license plate screws.(For these, you would need to ground the mount) Im planning on putting it on the trunk, but I dont feel like drilling into it. For the most part, with the exception of the Wilson 1000 and 5000, mag bases arent that great.

Same way my friend has it now on the 94, except his mag base has a fiberglass whip, a bit taller than the roofline. Getting a wilson 1000 tomorrow!

My issue is the trunk really doesnt like to support weight anymore, and the flexing the waving of the antenna will cause isn't reall preferred either.

I guess I could just throw it on the roof.

I keep hoping I can pull into a truck stop and hear the "lot lizards" advertising, so I can have a good laugh; but that hasn't happened yet. Every now and then you can hear funny conversations going on.
