Anyone had to drive on their spare yet?

It's horrible. The sidewall got cut on one of my tires so I had to throw the spare on because no one stocked the factory tires locally.

I honestly keep questioning whether or not the factory put the correct spare tire in the car. It's definitely smaller than the other tires which makes me wonder what it's doing to the AWD system. It's border line scary to drive. It feels like the car is heavily over loading that tire and the tire just has a constant whine to it like it's ready to blow out at any time.

Just a weird feeling. I've drove on plenty of spares before but never had a car feel so compromised driving on one.

Hopefully the new tire gets here tomorrow. I'm almost considering ordering another rim and tire just to have a true full size spare around.

I keep a full size spare in my cars just for that reason.

Well, that, and on my '92 the donut doesn't clear the front brakes. Oops.

You shouldn't be running a donut on the front of a car anyway it's pretty dangerious to say the least.

You don't get adaptive cruise either ;)

After having the adaptive cruise control, I think I would have given it up for the performance package...but alas hindsight is always correct. Besides I don't think you could get 402A with the PP in 10.

I know not everyone would use it but I use adaptive cruise everyday and it makes my commute much nicer.

Having the better geared transmission would be nice also but if I had to choose between the two I would have to go with the option I use more. I also love the ride, quietness, and treadwear of the Michelin Primacy's and wouldn't want the stickier tires that come in the performance package.

Just remember, it's a spare to get you safely home or to a garage one time and is only rated at a MAX speed of 50mph and MAX range of 50 miles. Anything past that is at your own risk and I've seen them blow out before, so don't assume they are durable enough for everyday driving or handling. I see too many people around Detroit driving on donuts for weeks at full highway speed assuming it's fine. It would be even worse for your car to get wrecked over this.

With the AWD, the SHO runs open diffs front and rear, so the different size won't hurt it like it would on an LSD.

Don't get me wrong I really love the ACC but now that I've had it and it was the only thing I had to give up to have the Performance Package, I would probably be willing to give it up for all the goodies of the PP.

there wasn't much to the perf package though either, just tires brakes and some shock tuning, no? I thought on our '10s we lost more then ACC if we didn't get the 402A.

I'm sure you are right...when I was looking to order mine you couldn't get the performance package and the 402B package together. You had to give up one or the other. I also don't know why early it was called the 402B and then changed to 402A. I know that you couldn't get that package and the PP. Since I liked the goodies I decided to give up the PP..still it would have been nice to have both. Oh well, it's still a great car.

You got that mixed up. 402A was 1st for Job 1 and 402B was Job 2 cars.

Asked before but no one answered what do you mean by Job 1 and Job 2 cars? I haven't heard of these terms before and would love to have them explained to me. Thanks.

I belive Job 1 the first batch made for so long before some changes where implemented on the car. I read if you have a pull strap on your trunk door thats apart of the job 2 cars.

You're in the right ballpark. Job 1 is the first salable production cars built for that model year. Job 2 comes in at about 1/2 model year. In Job 2 they make design changes according to customer, warranty and factory feedback about Job 1's to increase quality, utility and ease of assembly. This also can mean changing the content of rapid spec packages, standard equipment and/or configuration compatibility (ie. 12S PP now available with 402 pkg). They typically only have two Jobs per model year, but I've seen 3 before, there's no real set rules on it.

There's always surprises that pop up in production that engineers couldn't predict in the design process and this allows them to fix them without waiting until the next model year.

So that would explain why there were 4 interior packages when I first started looking at ordering back in early 2010 and then the change to only 3 packages later in the year, about May/June when there were only 3 choices of interior packages and the 402B package wasn't available? Thanks, now it all makes sense!
