I posted awhile ago about modifying the radio compartment to accomedate a double din radio. I want to put a 2 din DVD Head unit in there. Cutting the seperator out and some slight fitting might have to occur but do you guys see any other issues?

sounds like it would be cool..

ofcourse now you'll have even more buttons farther down towards the console..in my opinion the radio is already too low for comfort..Hmm, ever consider putting a single din DVD player and flip out screen in place of the EATC and relocating that to where the radio is?

I've had the radio out in my car a couple times..i honestly can't forsee any big problems..but dont quote me on that.

Umm ya

want a Step by step and some pics?

Eclipse 7301...

#1 remove radio trim ring thing out of car.(if i need to tell you how to do that then i think your SOL for this project.)
#2 Cut the Divider.
#3 get 2 Din cages and cut off the tops of both of them. Then Weld them together. Reason? there is no double din cage. Double dins are made to be ISO mounted.
#3 try to fab a way to get the cage to fit correctly where you want it. Ussually using the tabs on the cages to secure it in place.
#4 get some 100% polyester fleece some fiber glass resin, a small dowel rod.
#5 Place teh dowel rods where the fiberglass will stop then glass in the whole area. moldin the fiberglass in with the plastic trim. Be sure not to cover the holes at the top
#6 wait
#7 cut out the area you want the deck to come through. Ussually the dowel rods and on the sides you just gotta kinda guess. do the test and fit thing.
#8 sand down the fiberglass and make it look purty with the bondo. then primer and sand that down and make sure it looks the way you want it.
#9 secure the radio to the cage in the right spot so that it opens correctly and such.
#10 reinstall everything
#11 Test and enjoy

The opening is way to large to do it without fiberglassing unless you don't care what it looks like.

Pics of mine yesterday. I just did this and its now finished its currently drying in the back of my shop. Ill get more pics tonight.. I had to get a sanding wheel from my house so i could sand the top corners ya its a pain..
