First off I want to thank everybody that helped out with advice and stuff.. Especially yamahaSHO for offering to help and 95SHOdude for help with some of the parts from his dearly departed. 
But now for the twist....
We went in to change out the Crank sensor and ended up finding out the real problem.. Turns out the timing belt had snapped.
My only excuse is, I didn't know that much about this when I started but I sure would like to have started all over again with this knowledge.

But we got lucky. Seems that since my wife wasn't driving that fast when it happened(or maybe it is just pure luck, period), the valves don't seem to have interfered with the pistons. We ran a check on compression on all 6 cylinders and it made compression. Not fully consistant but compression nonetheless. So we buttoned it up, crossed everyone's fingers & toes, and started it up. Looks like so far we are lucky, I got to drive the car home and by the time I got home it was running fine.
Of course now it needs two emergency jobs to be running really good. The upper 60K is really needed(badly). So I plan to get that done as soon as possible. The other item is that I really need to get the exhaust fixed ASAP or else I might die of monoxide poisoning while driving my car. The factory cat manifold is cracked.. in a bad way.. 
I should have taken pictures of it but didn't have the camera with me to do that. Well, it is running.. And I am happy for that. I will shoot some more pics for my domain page soon on updates and stuff like that...
