Aluminum rust trunk probs

Ok my dad just decided to paint my trunk well i havnt drivin it much in the winter but the past owners have and it shows. well the trunk has some oxidized aluminum. well my question to you guys is after i sanded it off wit special aluminum sand paper how do i keep this from oxidizing again?. well the for dealership said to sand it and prime it wit a rust defender and then base coat and then clear but i want your oppion let me know

Same here. My trunk has been bubbled since I bought it. I've been meaning to hit up the JY to score a silver trunk.

well thanks for the info i knew to use meatal etching primer cause my dad had mentioned that too. yeah i had a big dent in the panel too so i had to bondoue that up as well. i hated the look of my trunk before cause it was a black silver color and the white corrsion was kinda tacky if you know what i mean well thanks again

My brother uses this etching primer on metal parts that are prone to rust/corrosion, but also uses a special sealer after final priming, to seal all parts before painting.
