also.......steering problem

in the 93 atx that i have, the steering just plain feels weird. It is as if it has a center point, and at higher mph's, when you turn, it just wants to slap back to the middle, almost like it is in a groove or something. any suggestions? thanks again!

I have the same problem. If I don't have both hands on the wheel, i'm all over the place!

Sound like a problem with the totally awesome, perfect, precise (uh, notice the sarcasm here..) VAPS system. Stands for Variable Assist Power Steering. One would probably have to drive it to better understand your problem before making any judgments. How many miles do you have on it?

i only have 113k on it, just got it. it is a pain in the #$%.

Funny, I had the same problem. I bought it at a dealer auction and it had been a trade for a new car dealership. It sat on the lot for a month and then they sold it. I drove it for a few thousand miles and it went away so it might be because the car has been sitting. Well, I also replaced the power steering fluid, got new struts and a couple new suspension parts. Right now, it is very tight and the car doesn't move unless I forcibly tug on the wheel. That's a far cry from when I bought it.
