Accessory use = high temp.....????

When my ac/heat is on or my lights pretty much anything that pulls power my temp goes crazy. It went from in the red to the o in normal and all I did was shut my lights off and the heat. Any ideas? Thanks

bad connection or bad ground somewhere in the temp gauge circuit.

You think I'd be better off just getting an aftermarket temperature gauge?

no, I think fixing the root cause is always better.

I took the boot off of the sensor and cleaned it and the outside of the sensor as well as tightening up the grounds and no luck. Any suggestions?

I also noticed that when I have my lights on my ac doesn't blow as hard. I'm not sure if there's any correlation.

It was a ground wire that ran from the negative battery terminal to the frame by the power steering reservoir. Noticed it was a little melted and brittle and I touched it and it broke In half.
