I have a new accumulator and O-rings and such, I plan on installing it tomorrow. Helms says to drain the old one then drill holes in the bottom to totally collect all old oil and refill the new one with what was taken out plus 2 oz. Do I just drain this oil out of the line nearest to the acual accumulator, then pour the new fluid in in that same line on the new assmbly that is nearest the accumulator? How much new fluid do I need to have on hand I have 7 oz now do I need more? Thanx,
Doug

7 oz is enough.

The idea is to collect all the old oil from the component removed, then add oil in that exact amount (plus the extra) to keep the system at the correct level in the system.

You can just dump the measured amount of oil into one of the accumulator lines before reassembly. Just make sure you don't fump it out while installing the parts.

Don't be surprised if you don't get much out.

cuss rant headbang that was me yesterday replacing my accumulator. The Helms basically says disconnect and remove, which is nothing near what needs to be done. It mentions nothing of disconnecting the fuel lines, all of the electrical connections in that corner, moving the PS tank, and removing the crossover tube along with the battery and its tray. After all that was removed it was a rather simple process.
Ok, I've ranted now I'm done. The system is being evacuated and recharged thurs and I'm looking forward to having nice cold air.
