I was wondering if anyone has had to replace there ABS pump before? I have replace the pump relay and ABS computer, but that does not seem to help. The problem that I am getting is when I start the car. My ABS light comes on and stays on. I can feel my pedal kick just a little at startup and that is it. The system does not work. Any sugestions? Do I need a new pump?

Odds are it is not the pump. Hook a code reader to the ABS harness and see if you can get a code before throwing parts at the problem.

The pumps themselves are probably the least failed item on SHOs. This means if you can find a freshly parting out SHO, you can get one, they shouldnt cost much as there's splenty pilign up due to the fact they rarely need replacing.

How long has it been since you did a full brake system flush at the dealer that runs the pumps to get all the crap out of there? If you have a little piece of rust or mung in there, it can cause things to stick and not work. You get rust and mung from the fact the brake fluid will do it's best to absorb water from any place it can, like from the air, each time you take the lid off the brake fluid resoirvoir. Over time, the water can rust the rustable parts inside the brake system, thes rust pieces eventually make their way around the brake system until something sticks against it, like a moveable ABS valve.

I replaced my ABS pump at 180,000 miles. I got lucky and found a rear hit SHO in the boneyard. At the time rebuilt ones were several hundred dollars at the chains and Ford wanted $1,000. Not too bad of a job, I did give the dealer $100 to bleed the system after I installed the pump.
