I have this problem when I brake and turn the wheel, the ABS goes off. I don't have to be going fast or anything, maybe just 35mph or so. Why?

Thanks for everyones help

Bad or dirty ABS ring or sensor. Look for metal shavings or rust accummulated on the sensor or ring.

ABS issues

sounds right. These sensors can be hard to get out of the spindle, and I would plan on beating them into a pulp, and getting new ones from the Ford dealer parts dept.

Not sure how to figure out which ones are bad, though. Would assume it is one or both of the front sensors.

You can disconnect the ABS connector then insert a digital volt meter into the corresponding sensor connector. The sensors will generate an AC voltage when the wheel is spun.

Easier to do when the caliper and rotor are removed. My rear ones generated a much lower voltage that the front ones for whatever reason. But both fronts were near identical when spun by hand as fast as I could as were the rears.

The wiring harness goes up past the strut and towards the engine bay. You do not have to remove any parts to test the sensor. You may, however need to remove the wheel or even rotor to fully inspect the tone ring on the axle for damage or cracks.

when the outer cv boots rip, they vomit grease all over the ABS ring...making it hard to identify the sensor and ring at a glance...this "grease vomit" screws with the ABS computer.

you will have to take off the wheel, brake cleaner in hand, and clean each of the ABS rings.

If the ABS is still screwy, disable ABS...
