My A/C wouldn't turn on so I jumpered the 2 wire plug called the Low Pressure Switch.

And lord be hold my new A/C Compressor Kicked-in. :thumb:
So I called Auto Zone to see if they sell the switch and the Ast. Manager Said I had to buy the whole kit wich included a new Dryer, High/low lines for a total over 200 Green backs :madflame:

Is there another way arounf this?

Thanks Peeps,

well first off let me ask you if your a/c system is fully charged with freon?only because even if it is not and you jump that switch chances are that the compressor will kick on anyway.. if it is charged fully with freon then change the switch but be prepared you have to have all the freon sucked out then change the switch then have it recharged....i know it sucks but thats the way it is with a/c dont let the parts store tell you other wise about changing this that and the other thing...especially if you dont need to.... feel free to contact me with any questions

The car has a new Compressor and Clutch and I had it converted over to R134A allready and I filled it 2 days ago and rechecked it today and its still full and in the green.

Where can I buy this Switch since AutoZone says I need to buy a new Dryer, High/low pressure lines in order to replace the switch.

Is there a Part Number?

thanks

Thanks for that number.

I went to autozone today and nothing camu up for my car then I gave them that number and it popped up and in stock. :****:

Ok I installed it and checked the pressure and it was still reading full.

And still the A/C won't turn on.

So I unpluged the switch and jumpered it again and the clutch kicked in.

What is going on here?

PLEASE HELP

Ok I topped off the R134A and it read 35psi. No more R134A will go into it at that point.

I put the 2nd new gauge on it that I got today and now it reads 30 psi.

Cluctch still wont turn on unlesss I jumper it.

If it's is only reading 30-35 PSI, it needs more R-134a.

Remember, I told you it needs a pressure above 45 psi to close.

Normal static pressures in the system should run between 70 and 110 psi, depending on temperature.

Normally, the pressure of the can of R134a is enough to trigger the switch. Sometimes, you need to jumper the cycling switch to get the compressor to run and draw more of the refrigerant into the system.

Normal charge should be between 28 and 32 oz of R-134a. That's normally almost 3 cans if the system was completely flat.
