98 igntion switch out, car still has juice

Hey brought home a 98. Problem is car wont turn off when you turn key to off position. Took out the igniton switch and disconnected from switch from harness. Hook battery up and gauge lights turn on just like if you turned the key to on, but did not start it. checked wiring undering under dash. They hacked at it, but all wires are in the still color coded right. The only gauge light on are Batt, CEL, Door ajar- normal cause door open. Would anyone have a pic of the wires on the switch. Also can I go by my wife 99 SE taurus for guidance of the switch wires.
