Well one thing for sure , it bolts right in , connectors are the same but the wipers stays on , cant turn them off. Flashers , hi-beam and hazards works.

Its just a matter of time to find the stupid inverted wires.

To those who have no clue what im talking about , im replacing this:

Sweet I want to do the same thing, mine did something funky a month ago when I turned the turn signal on it shut off my headlights. So I had to turn them off then on again not too sweet on a Friday night around 10:45. It has not done it since but still a good idea to replace before it really craps out.

Update:

Even with messing with the wires (swaping them - with both diagrams) still the same.

So I decided to open up the switch because at that point it seems to be the resistance (sp?) who is the culprit.

Both switch are EXATCLY the same internaly , except the res circuit board at the end of the arm , the end of the arm , and the spring/circuit that presses on the circuit board thats it.

I just found out the circuit board has its little connection upside down from the other....

More to come.

Alright I got it to work. It was a sun-of-a-gun , took me 4+ hours to figure it out.

Theres 2 wires to swap , and the resistance board inside the switch.

it looks nicer and more updated thats for sure, is the actual feeling of the movement different or anything? maybe u could make some money converting these and selling them to people as an upgrade over the stock apperance

and to Vnuk, seems odd that your multi switch is the culprit there....... the headlights really don't go through that switch...... you could have another electrical problem elsewhere in the wiring or sockets...... now if you said when u hit your turn signal your wiipers screw up or the brights come on or something like that, that is related to the MFS, then I'd think about replacing it

could be wrong t **

Actually, the headlights do run through the MFS, and a malfunctioning MFS can cause exactly that issue. If the switch to activate the high beams is partially activated, the low beams will cut off without the highs coming on. On a worn MFS, this is definitely possible. You would not believe what all goes through that stupid thing.

Thats odd that you had to modify it, i just put one in my 93 and it works perfectly. Didn't have to do anything but bolt it in.

Its the same feeling , except newer firm feel. The arm is the same angle , same length.

When I first bought my SHO, I took it for a spin one night and the headlights decided to shut off on me without warning. Freaked me out a little bit. The problem ended up being a faulty MFS (probably failed in the way you describe).

See, between that and the ignition cylinder, I have decided to simply run with no steering column covers. MFS turns into a 3 minute job and ignition cylinders take about 45 seconds. Sure, it might look kinda ugly, but just consider it a weight savings... and a breath of fresh maintenance air.

Just wrap a trash bag around it, if you want to get classy get those lemon scented ones :naughty:

So it's a pain swapping a MFS out?!

Theres 2 wires to swap behind the switch (easy) in my case the orange and blue/white , then you need to dismantle BOTH MFS in pieces , grab the "new" resitance /circuit board disk thats located in the middle of the arm and swap with the old.

Once you know it , its not that hard , but I had a hard time going in the blind cause no one had done this , or at least its not documented.

The resistance seems to be differant , plus the new resistance board plug is upside down , which makes 2 wires go the wrong way (3 wire connector).

Although the windshield wiper doesnt work , but I think it may be something else.

What year did you get yours from? And it just plugged right in and worked properly?
