I'm a newbie here,.......but not to SHO's as I've had my 95 ATX for nearly 6 years and overall it has been a good car, other than typical alternator & brake stuff.

I bought the car back in 99 w/ 62k on it and as soon as I got it home I got the 60k service work done (timing belt, plugs, thermostat, fuel filter, adjusted the valves & etc.) It now has 123k on it.

I've never had it not to start on me, other than today. I drove the car home from work on wednesday and parked it. It was fine,....went out friday morning (today) and it wouldn't start?

It cranked, but it wouldn't fire. I checked & it had enough fuel pressure, so I figured it might be ignition related. So,... I decided to pull the front 3 plugs and they were submerged in oil, due to the valve covers leaking over time (I assume). I cleaned the cavity out and removed the plugs. They seemed to look ok.

I'm thinking I might have a bad coil pack, but I'm not sure?! Does anyone have a suggestion on what this might be?! I really don't want to take this to a dealer. Only as a last resort.

Thanks for any help you guys can give me,......as I sure do need some.

First thing to do is run your codes. Check the link in my Sig. Then go from there you car may just tell you whats wrong, rather than us guessing at it.

Check the 10A fuse marked IGN COIL in the under hood fusebox. If it is blown, disconnect the coolant level sensor in the overflow tank, replace the fuse, and drive off.

This is a common fault on all the Gen II ATX cars.

If your plug well have oil in them, it's due to the plug well seals. Probably time for another upper 60k and replacing them.

Def. run the codes and see what you get, the symtoms also may point to a bad CPS. :thumb:

Well,......

I pulled the codes and I got a 113 [ACT sensor signal voltage too high], which I think is due to the fact that I've got that sensor unplugged because of a cone filter.

The only other code I got was a 543 [Fuel Pump circuit open connection - Electronic Controll Assy. to battery]
Thinking that this might be the culprit, I double checked the fuel pressure with a gauge on the schrader valve and it checked out ok, not to mention I could here the FP cycling when I turned the key to the run posistion.

I cleared the codes and now the only code is a 113, but still no start?!

Now what?! :help:

Check the ignition wires and spark plugs before you go any further.

Did you check that fuse?

Yep,....I checked it. It's not blown.

I really don't think it a plug wire / spark plug problem, because this thing ran perfect one day and 2 days later it wouldn't hit.

I still thinking it might be the coil pack. Is there anyway to test it?

This thing is killing me. I really need to get it started. If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know.

I would say check the spark at a plug wire. I had the same problem happen to my 89-111K . I went out in the morning and it would not start either. No spark but plenty of fuel pressure and no blown fuses. Also i checked codes and i had none.
I had a spare coil pack,DIS and cam sensor which i switched out to see if that was the problem still no start. I was told that coil packs and DIS's rarely go bad.

I think your problem is CPS Crank Sensor. Sounds exactly like my cars problems.

Just for everyones info. The CPS can be bad with no codes and tach still jumping up to 400-600 when trying to crank the car over. I would say CPS.

Better order your lower 60K items and good luck. Not nearly as hard as I figured.
My problem was front main seal leaking badly and slinging oil all over my CPS along with anti-freeze from the water pump.
