You want those two thicker wires on the same post. They need to go on the post further from the starter, if I recall correctly. The other post has a silver braided wire going to the starter from the solenoid, that post does not receive the two loose wires. The solenoid jumps those two post with the small ignition wire you can only hook up to one spot. If you have the power wire from the battery hooked on the wrong post, the starter would be cranking as soon as you hook the battery cable up to the battery. If you have the power wire from the battery hooked up to the correct post and the accessory power wire on the other post, I have no idea what would be happening but I know you would be missing some power to quite a bit of power consuming sources in your vehicle when the key is let off from an attempted start. If your radio, head lights, fuel pump, and ect come on when you turn the key to the run position, you have it hooked up right and are experiencing a starting problem and would need to list your symptoms and when they became present.
