OK I have a 94 ATX with 175K on it. Car is my daily driver, it sat for a week while my wife was out of town (she has a nice new car so I used that!!). But then after a week I got back in the SHO and the shifts between gear where horrible.

Now the trans itself is not slipping just the shifts, when it gets into gear (usually by me letting way off the gas pedal), the trans is good. Now a few times it wouldn't shift past second, and another time it wouldn't grab overdrive. But then if I stop and reset the ECM (neg battery cable off and hit the brakes) the trans will then shift (poorly but it will shift through all the gears). So I looked up some old posts and I have already tried a few things,

-new VSS
-new TSS
-New trans filter and fluid (about 12oz of Lucas too), old fluid a little burnt but not toasted.
- switch the ECM with a spare I had

But all of these things changed nothing. So I'm not sure if the trans is toast or if there is some kind of Shift Solinoid that could be bad or if the Torque converter lock-up switch is bad???????

Any kind of help is greatly appreciated, Thanks, Garrett

Also If it's in Drive and I manually put it in 2nd it shifts right away just like it should.

Anyone have any idea, or am I just a victim of an ATX?????

Thanks, Garrett

To be honest it sounds like either the PCM, TPS or VSS. I have gotten a bad VSS and TPS right out of the box new before. Resetting the PCM and having it work for a moment is the part that lets you know it is most likely a sensor issue not a mechanical issue.
