Hello guys this car has been all sorts of trouble. So the car would start and idle fine but when you went to drive it it would die off at higher rpms (1500 or more) but always different (Never ran higher than 4000). So I checked the fuel pressure and had about 35-40psi at idle but when you reved it it dropped to about 5psi.

So it must be the fuel pump, NO Problem dropped tank new fuel pump, strainer and filter. Started it back up and the exact same thing. Pulled the vaccum line off of the fuel pressure regulator and it still did it.

So my question is is there a check valve or anything on the return line that would do this? Any response from anyone, even just to let me know that someone is listening.

Thanks, Garrett

Sounds like a bad fp regulator.

Do a little searching and you'll find out all about them. The front 60k includes changing timing belt, cam and crank seals, and crank sensor. The top 60k includes valve lash adjustment, valve cover gaskets, and generally plugs and wires.

Well I figured it out last night. I replaced the Fuel Pressure Regulator and it still didn't fix it. So I took the fuel pump back out and took off the pulsator (between the pump and sending unit, and put a jumper hose on). Started the car back up and the fuel pressure was at 39psi all the time.

Now my other question is for the secondary butterflies, do they open whenever the engine is above a certain rpm (3500?) because I think one is sticking shut (in park with hood open reved it up, one worked one didn't)?

But even with the butterfly not working right this car is a boat load of fun, I have had a lot of Camaros and Firebirds and this thing isn't as fast but it just feels like a fun car to drive!!!:naughty: But now I have a boat load of kids and its hard to get them in and out of the back seat in those F-bodies.

Thanks, Garrett

Yup, intake secondaries should open at around 3900 rpm regardless of engine load. They should be open w/ engine off, closed w/ engine on at idle.
