I recently bought a 93 sho from my dad who has had it for 6-7 years so I'm going through and fixing all the problems that he let slide...MAF,antenna mast, steering, struts, EATC buttons, cruise paddles, etc... My biggest and most embarrassing problem is the steering and before I really crack into it I though I would ask for opinions. When I turn to the right under any stress like turns or anything other than just sitting still I get a grinding/ slight squeal sound. Its not quite like a power steering squeal though. Now when I got it to do it parked one time and tied the steering wheel so it was making the sound. If I grabbed the engine by the intake and pulled towards the pass fender it would squeal louder?? There is metal shavings in the fluid but I try to keep it flushed. The problem had been like this since my dad got it so Im pretty sure it's not the pump but it's not ruled out. Thats about all i can think of. I think its the rack and pinion but have zero experience with those. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
Jim

If there are shavings in the fluid chances are you need a new rack.

The squealing you're hearing could also be your tie rods, either inner, outer or both

Ok Im leaning towards the rack... It's a squeal not a squeak so it couldn't be the tie rod could it? I should also add that it increases with rpm's.
Thanks
Jim
