Very simple question. I have a 93 MTX. All maintained nicely. Since my water temp gauge install, I have noticed that when sitting in traffic and maybe an extensive idle situation, the car will get up around 215 or so. I used a t-fitting and plumbed the autometer sender in the same location as the factory ECT. Fans seem to turn on right at 210-215 and then the temp will drop down.

During normal driving, it seems to stay right around 195 ( which is what the t-stat is. ) Am I being paranoid, or is this normal. I have an aftermarket t-stat. Do I need to switch back to a Ford made unit.

Or just drive it. Radiator cap? Just kind of curious. The readings look like they always have on the cars n-o-r-m-a-l gauge. Just seem high on the real gauge.

I would switch back to a revised T stat. They have the jiggle valve in them. The jiggle valve goes in the 12 O clock, pr strait up position. Other that the T stat, sounds normal to me.

P.S. I have the same setup.

The Napa one that I used had the jiggle valve. However, I did not know of the 12 o' clock position.

Is there any reason why?

Yes, the jiggle valve is used to get air out (and stay out) of the system, it has to be at the top for it to be effective...
