Any ATX problem should always be first diagnosed by changing the filter and pan gasket with a close inspection of the connections that are visible. If this improves your performance, then try going the full flush route. In my case, and I emphasize that I am an amateur, I have avoided much grief and spent $$$$ by using this method as a baseline diagnostic tool. I also tried something I was always taught not to do, I put in a quart of Lucas ATF treatment. Since I had nothing to lose as I was staring at $2k in rebuild, I figured it cannot hurt. That was 10k miles ago. Again, I must tell you that I could have just been lucky, as I was shooting in the dark. Good Luck.

-have you ran it out of gas lately??? i have been witness to atx shos that run out of gas set codes when they do, because its still tring to run and pull, but the engine shuts off and on, trans going back and forth and the computer thinks something is wrong in the eng. or tranny. put a tester on it, pull the codes, and presto, its back to normal. this happened to my nieces car once. yes its a sho. so there may not be anything wrong with it.....
