93 atx engine stalls when I try to rev

So do I take apart the EGR/DPFE and clean it? That is the only thing left that could cause this I'm thinking. Any tips/tricks?

I did just buy a 93 black/black atx this weekend.

I have used a coat hanger, pipe cleaners, and carb cleaner to clean out the EGR passages. The search function does not seem to be working now, but there are threads on how to go about doing this. You can see the nostrils in the inside the throttle body and there are plugs that can be removed on the intake near the EGR valve.
Check to see if the hoses that go to the DPFE are cracked Mine were and I had to replace one of them.

You said you painted the mounting holes for the crossover tube? Did you paint just the top or the bottom where it mounts to the rest of the intake manifold too?

Both sides. Not where it mounts. Just the crossover tube.

If there's paint on the bottom of the mounting holes for the crossover tube it will isolate the whole tube from ground.

What I'm getting at is the DIS can have a good connection to the crossover tube but the crossover tube may not have good ground if you painted the mounting points for the tube.

What I don't get about that is why it would run at all if the dis is not grounded. I would expect it to either run or not run.

Could it be the DIS itself being bad? I know mine was all the troubles for erratic idle and very rough running car. Granted it still ran, but perhaps yours is at the point it just wants to quit?

I get lost in chain of events here. Did the intake get painted and installed during this 60k job or was it already on there? Bad electrical connections throw all kinds of codes. As do failing pcm's and DIS modules although those throw more specific codes like SPOUT. That is quite specific with only a few sources that I have encountered

Yes I painted it. Remember though, I put the intake on and it ran perfect. I could rev it up to get the secondaries to open. Timing was spot on and it didn't miss a beat. only problem was the fuel was spraying out of the FPR. I took the intake off and replaced the crush washers, tightened it down, and it didn't leak. I put the intake back on, and it has been a nightmare ever since. Something tells me whenever I find the problem, it is going to be something super simple. I did nothing else. I'm totally baffled... I do have a spare DIS I could swap. Maybe it did just go up in smoke.

I guess its possible that it was grounded adequately the first time you assembled the intake, but not grounded adequately this time.

Damn these Taurus's and their electrical gremlins. If it wasn't for the fact this cas was such a sleeper I myself would have offloaded it already for something less of a hassle.

To be fair, any 1990's car at this point will have things so old that I suspect you would have issues with alot of cars. SHO's were more maintenance heavy for me than alot of stuff I've owned. Also lack of experience of tech's who know what the tricky parts can be ahead of time can make a huge difference. That's why if you have the option take it far to a SHO pro- to pay for years of reps under the hood- you should do it.

I like to think I'm pretty proficient on these cars. This is how you learn. Not gonna lie though, this one has got me stumped.
