I bought this SHO 2 months ago and it ran fine. Last week it started idling funny with eratic rpms (rpm's would go down) but once the motor got warm it ran fine. I decided to change plugs and wires and proceeded to remove the intake manifold and replace with Motorcraft plugs and Taylor wires. After I put everything back together it would not start unless I pressed the gas to the floor and it would not stay running if I took my foot off the gas. When I tried to start it the rpm's did move up around 500 but still no start.

Here is some things I know and have tried...
Spout connecter (near rear intake) was not present (plug in missing)
Spout near coil does have it's connector present
Tried a different Coil (nothing)
Tried a different DIS (nothing)
Tried a new IAB / IAC (nothing)
Tried different MAF (nothing)
Replaced Cam Position Sensor (nothing)
Checked voltage from DIS to Crank Sensor, SPOUT, VBAT to Coil, Cam Sensor and all checked out ok (from RangerJ's suggestion)
Checked OHM resistance from Coil to DIS, checked out ok.
Checked OHM resistance from Spout to DIS and did not get a reading. (Infinite)
I do have spark, I do have fuel (pump primes when keyed), I checked all fuses and their ok
I did ground the DIS by itself and got no start, all vacuum hoses are correctly routed.

All parts I replaced on the car came from a running 3.0 (coil, DIS)

Ran codes after this and got 111, 217 and 542. Those were stored. Unhooked the battery and reconnected and could only run KOEO and got 111 only.
The car did have the battery light that comes on for about 30 seconds after starting (did this since i bought it) and it does have presence of an existing alarm (one that you plug in a plastic key type thing), since the car did start in the past without this I assume it's unplugged.

If anyone out there could possibly shed some light on this and help out I would be greatly appreciated. I did do searches for 3 days and did find a lot of useful info but perhaps there is something I missed.

Thanks

Double check your ground strap behind the intake (it needs to be hooked) , plus make sure ALL bolts to the dis are tight and installed. missing one bolt can make a no-start.

Thanks for the reply's. What do you mean by "hook"? Will the no resistance to the Spout from the DIS cause this? I did check the intake and it looks a little rough with the rubber connectors to the secondaries. I did check the vacuum lines to the secondaries and they look ok. Again, thanks for any input.

Oh yea.... you may have plug wires swapped. There have only been about 100 threads where people insist they have it right but eventually discover they have it wrong. Check the diagram very carefully.

217 is Coil 3 circuit failure. If you've tried a different DIS Module and Coil Pack without improvement, do a wiggle test on all the wires between the DIS Module and Coil Pack.

I am ashamed to say that I am one of those people. I learned that the book isn't always right.

you removed the intake? i removed mine for paint and after that the car ran like crap. turned out i had a huge vacuum leak. take some carb clean and spray around the intake. if it revs up or evens out its a vacuum leak.

Thanks for the input guys. Today I am going to try everything over, and triple check for vacuum leaks.

Well after several hours I have got her running tip top. It seems that the rear grounding strap needed to be replaced and the wiring harness going to the DIS (specifically the grey single wire connecter in the rear of the engine had been rubbed to the bare wire) needed some attention.

Thanks for all your help, have a great weekend.
