I have a 92 sho that I got from a buddy he got it from a auction it wasnt running when he got it He thought it was the fuel pump and replaced it still didnt run then he thought it was the timing belt he replaced it and it still wouldnt start and he gave up and sold it to me for 250 dollars. To me it sounded like it was a timing problem so I redid the timing just to make sure but still wont start so I replaced the CKP and the CMP still wouldnt start checked spark plugs alot of oil in the wells so I replaced the valve seals put new spark plugs and wires on it still no start pulled codes and get 111 for memery code and 111 for the hard code I also noticed from reading this fourm that the spark plug wiring order is differnt then what is in the chilton book what is the correct order? When I have them hooked up like the chilton book the engine just turns over like it wants to start just wont When I change them around like I read on this fourm I get back fire out of the intake manifold and still wont start. If any body has any sugestions on what might be the problem I sure would appreciate it. To help you I now that I have spark, compression, fuel.

Yes, the chilton's is wrong.

Someone needs to get a link for the picture, but if I remember right it's:

Coil:
1 4
2 6
3 5

Intake
6 5 4
3 2 1

I changed around the wires and it still will not start. Is it normal for the fuel guage to keep climbing while you are trying to start it? I have about a half a tank of gas and as I try and crank it the needle starts going up all the way to the full mark. When I stop cranking it goes back down. I was wondering if that is normal.

Yes the fuel gauge takes a minute to get up to where it really should be.
It shouldn't be related to your issue.

And there's a difference between "trying to crank" (key in START) and the motor being off but the key still in the ON position. Does the gauge stay up when the key is in the ON position but NOT cranking?

------------------------------------------------------------------

By this time your engine might be "flooded". This means there's too much gas for the air/gas to fire. You can let it sit for a day or two to vent out. Also, try cranking with the gas pedal ALL the way down- this opens the throttle body up to allow max. air in.

You should smell gas out the back of the car if it's not firing but you crank. Maybe you have a fuel delivery issue??

---------------------------------------------------------------

Does your tachometer show that it's cranking? If it stays at zero while you crank it, there's a sensor/electrical problem somewhere, since the tach comes right from the computer.

Good luck!

I get fuel out of the fuel rail and with the key in the on postion the needle goes up to the half mark and the tech does move to about 3000 to 4000 when trying to crank.
