The 92 SHO I purchased has no antenna. The previous owner must have broke it and never fixed it. What type of antenna did it have and what is the easiest way to replace it? Thanks guys.

The car should have an electric retractible mast antenna. Not sure how to replace it, I think you can grab it from behind the fender, but maybe complete removal of the fender is neccessary.

Do you mean the antenna has no mast or is the whole thing missing, leaving just a hole in the fender?

If it's just the mast and it's a power antenna, the mast can be purchased from FPN for around $40-45.

If it's a non-power antenna, one from a junkyard Taurus or Sable would probably work.

Hey stixx11,

I just noticed in your sig. that your 92 is charcoal grey. Do you have a picture of it at all??? I have a silver 92 and I have always wondered what it would look like charcoal grey, as I used to have a grey 92 LX and liked the colour.

If it's just the retractable mast that is missing you can buy one from Ford ($50) or FPN ($40) and replace/install it in about 10 minutes. The part comes with install instructions. Just did mine this weekend. Do a search and there are a couple of posts that describe the procedure. If the motor needs replacing then we're talking about a much bigger project (I'd just install a fixed mast then).

There is a full write up on this at shotimes.com . It has step by step procedure to replace it. I used that and it worked out no problem.

I am having to sell the GN and I am going to put my nice stereo in the SHO. I am keeping the SHO even though it makes me nervous with future problems. I need some money because my wife and I just had twin boys.

I remember seeing that car on EBAY a few months ago. That Grey is a stock Lincoln LS color if I remember.

Congrats on the car, and the twins. thumbs_u

If it's the mast, the proper way to replace it is to remove the fender well cover, remove and disassemble the motor to be sure there are no broken "zip tie" pieces stuck in the motor, then reassemble and feed the new antennae in. Fairly simple fix.
