I recently ran a friend of mine that has a 95 SS Impala with an LT1 (shift kit, 3.73 gears, and chip) in my bone stock 94 MTX. I was spinning from jump, so he got me out of the hole. I easily pulled on him once I hit third gear. My bumper was at his front door - and pulling - when we had to shut it down. I think from a roll I could have taken him. Now a Camaro is lighter than and SS Impala so your results will probably differ. It shouldnt be a blowout even if you loose. His car was built for speed and yours was built for groceries, so you have something to fall back on :naughty:

that camaro is gonna yank you

lt1 in a camaro has a lot more power then a lt1 in an impala.......

a stock lt1 will get you.... one with gears will eat you alive.....

here is a stock lt1 camaro vs SHO... albeit its the faster 6 speed model... but a modded auto would have no problem pulling a sstock 6 speed....... about 15 secodns into the video begins lt1 **********

LT1's are like 260-305hp depending on year

Back in Michigan ... again.
as a mater of fact yes this is at the track, theres a grudge match thats being set up at famoso

Moved to the 1/4 forum

LT1 'maro, auto... if it's marginally healthy he'll take you, though being an auto he'll be surprised how close you keep it provided you can cut a good launch.

My prediction: He'll pull a car or two by half track, you'll stop the pull at that point and with your mods you start reeling him back on the other end. If he makes even the slightest mistake you may get him by the 1/4, but that's pretty much your only shot. Now if you were going for a 1/2 mile....

I am going to go out on a Limb here and disagree. If it were a 6MT I would give him a better chance for the sake of Driver error. However, The fact that it's a Auto with mods those those engines respond to well and at a sticky track (I know FAMOSO, It's a pretty decent track) I think he's going to get walked. That Camaro should have no trouble trapping at about 100 or so, If that Camaro get's a good Launch (I don't see why it wouldnt) ... Say a 2.0 or better (Assuming he's running street tires) that thing will be in the 13's all day long.

A Highway run might be a little different, But unfortunently for the SHO - Were talking 1/4.

My dad had a Impy SS with the LT1 in it. Had UDP's and a hypertech chip IIRC. Off the line is where your big problem will be. They have great traction down low. I always seemed to be catching up to him, after his launches, but even tho he has the few extra HP, I beleieve they're heavier too... I wouldn't worry too much... just practice your launches.. :)

Oh.. and after that he bought a 96 Cobra... to make sure I couldn't catch him again.. lol :(

i think impala's get off the line slow, in fact I know they do... my brother had one, everyone in the impala club had problems leaving the gates....

my brother had I/H/E on his...... after he putin a properly working LSD, and 3:73 gears, his 1/4 mile time dropped 1.5 seconds to a 13.8....

a pretty much stock Impala is slow... start modding them decently, or with the right mods, and it will eat a N/A SHO for breakfast........ LT1's don't play

The more I think about the post, "they are bad off the line"... I think you must be talking vs all RWD cars... that "bad" vs a FWD means u need a perfect launch.. :) Otherwise u have issues. It was funny to mess with him when the snow started falling. Somehow those 285's were pretty crappy all of a sudden. :) Car drove sideways from stoplights.

i beat a TA LT1 6MT to 80...... from 20..... he had a slipping clutch kinda.... You have alot of good mods and unless you can get a good launch off.. you wont beat him.. but youll have a higher trap speed tho.. if you did the 1/2 mile you would be RUNNING past him.

Theres a couple guys running low 14's on 3.2's and lesser bolt ons. Depends on how good a driver are you, and how long you'd like your transmission to last.

Find a used zex kit on egay or craigslist, and be done with it. :sun:

If you had a bottle it'd come down to drivers IMO.

I have a bone stock 97 Z28 Camaro LT1, this was the last year of the LT1 and stock rating it has 295 horse and 330 lbs of torque. I have owned MTX and ATX SHO's and neither one will hold a prayer against my Camaro. The only way it will be close is if you run him from a roll. Sorry, but good luck. I actually just bought a SHO for a winter car, so I am back.... LoL.
