I have a bone stock 97 Z28 Camaro LT1, this was the last year of the LT1 and stock rating it has 295 horse and 330 lbs of torque. I have owned MTX and ATX SHO's and neither one will hold a prayer against my Camaro. The only way it will be close is if you run him from a roll. Sorry, but good luck. I actually just bought a SHO for a winter car, so I am back.... LoL.

Not a fair comparison IMO, mods?

stock MTX = stock 3.0

his MTX = 3.2 Stage1 Cams, 40mm BBB, Oversized Valves, P&P Intake Runners/Heads, LPM, 80mm MAF, SS CF Cold Air Can, 10.4mm Taylors, SS UDPs, SS Al Ultra-lightweight FW, SPEC Stage 3 clutch, SS y-pipe.

Theres 3.2 swapped MTX shos running low 14's with almost y pipes alone. no stock MTX will hold a candle to that.

^^Haha thats a 3rd gen owner lol. Now, being I have a 95 auto z28, i think with his mod's to yours..he will probally get you. Full exhaust alone on a LT1 is good for 20-30rwhp. Also, there is VERY, if not No difference between an auto LT1 and a 6 speed LT1. They trap almost identically in stock form. He's anywhere from 260rwhp to 300+rwhp. If he has a good tires on the back, it's going to dead hook and leave you at the line. With my mod's(in sig) i ran a 13.6. Just to give you a ruff idea. But i have a stall converter. It's going to be tuff since Lt1's have ALOT of low end torque. Just hope that his camaro wasent blessed with 3.23 but 2.73's.

this guy speaks the truth, I keep telling them LT1's are nothing to play with and they just won't listen

listen to these guys who have both cars......

lt1 with those kind of mods will WAISTE a bolt on SHO from a dig if the car hooks at all........

even my brothers Impala SS would have waisted a bolt on SHO... it was runing 13's with similar mods as this Camaro, and the F bodies have a bigger cam and make more HP then the Impalas.... also the IMpala has a good 1,000 pounds on the Camaro... maybe even 1500.... it doesn't look good

the best you can hope for is you don't do too bad and this guy gives you some respect for hanging in there........

also try to get him to do a roll race later........ from like 50 or 60 in 2nd gear...... you stand a better chance with your engine mods going from there...... gotta have those rpm's up

^ True that. Lt1's auto's and manual's are too close to judge which one is faster. But from a stop for sure, Auto LT1's are nothing to mess with. If you want to show him whats up from a roll, you are gong to have to do it from a 45-50, it's bottom of 2nd gear for LT1's. Since second is sorta long(39-75) in the lt1, i think you have a 15% chance of getting ahead, but it's a slim chance. I mean i know my LT1 threw down suprisingly low whp number's, but the power band is just so consistant from 2.5k up it's sad. it make's power all the way up too 5.8k rpm. Not too mention, Ive raced LT1's that put down more and beat them. I Made it breath and exhale well and it shows. ****, i only lose to a 310rwhp LS1 that has gears, full exhaust, tune, and intake by only 2 cars.

Nope will be close though. They respond much better to mods.

I had a familar sitiation against a stock Lt1 and it was dead even. But on the 1/4 he ran 13.5's. It was an auto too with 4.11 I think. Damn gears While I can only get 14.3 damn it.

Those Dyno numbers are right on. I had just got done driving for 45 mins when it hit the Dyno so it was running really hot. I know the Dyno is right on because i did 5 pulls. Then my buddy threw down what he usually does(342AWHP 1G DSM) to do a little more tuning to it. I think it's alright for a Beat, 8 previous owner LT1. That motor has seen **** and back and runs like a champ :)

SHO on the highway
Camaro in the 1/4

Your SHO would probably run high 13's @ 100-101 in perfect conditions and you driving it to its potential.

His car will probably run mid-high 13's @ around 99-100.

Drivers race.

If this guy can launch his Z, he should have no problem pulling 1.8 to 2.0 60ft's on street tires. IF you can get him on the highway, it may change a lil bit but not much. LT1's are really underrated on top end. When the Z gets into third, it puts a stock auto , at 4500 rpm which is prime for the very flat torque and HP in such a long gear. I think he will have you from a 60+ roll..even with the jesus gear in the SHO.
